Hello Everyone, My name is Akshay Bhardwaj. Just like many of you, I am on the journey to crack the SSC exams. I recently cleared the SSC CPO Prelims and am currently studying day and night for my CPO Mains. But my eyes are also set on the big goal and my dream SSC CGL 2026.
To be honest with you all, exams are getting tougher every year. Lately, I have strongly felt that SSC might even be using AI to create their question papers because the questions are getting so new and unpredictable. To survive this changing trend and clear the exam, we need to learn from the best.
Today, I want to share something amazing with you for the SSC CGL 2026 GK Strategy. I was watching a YouTube video by Dhruv Rana, the SSC CGL 2025 All India Rank (AIR) 1. I watched his masterclass on his General Knowledge (GK) strategy, and it totally changed my mindset. Dhruv scored a solid 60 marks by attempting exactly 20 questions with 100% accuracy. No blind guessing, just pure strategy.

After watching that video, I decided to write this article to share his exact steps in simple words so we can all apply them for CGL 2026.

SSC CGL 2026 GK Strategy by AIR 1 Dhruv Rana
1. Find the Right Teacher and Stick to Them
GK is like a huge ocean. Dhruv clearly says that it is very hard to cover it without a good teacher’s guidance. He followed ‘Parmar Sir’ for his preparation, but his best advice is to explore YouTube yourself. Watch a few playlists, see which teacher’s style you understand the most, and then blindly trust their course.
2. Best Books and Current Affairs
For books, Dhruv started with the basic Lucent and later used other books just for revision. But what about Current Affairs? Reading the newspaper daily is good for your English and general updates. However, for the actual exam, time is very limited. Dhruv suggests relying on Compilation Lectures. Watch monthly or topic-wise videos (like only Sports, only Defense, or only Science & Tech).
Pro Tip by the Dhruv – Don’t waste time scrolling useless reels. Watch study videos on YouTube so your algorithm changes. When your feed only suggests educational content, the facts slowly fix into your brain without extra effort.
3. Make Your Own Notes
Many students just download PDFs. Dhruv warns against doing this. When you write notes with your own hands, your brain takes a picture of that page. During the exam, you can easily remember it. When making notes, write the main concepts, but always leave some blank space on the side of the page. This way, when you give mock tests and find a new fact or make a mistake, you can easily add it there.
4. Smart Ways to Attempt the Exam
In the Pre exam, give only 6 to 7 minutes to the GK section. Do it in three “Waves” –
- First Wave – Only tick the questions where you are 100% sure. Mark them and move on.
- Second Wave – Look at the questions where you can eliminate two wrong options (50-50 chance). Use a little logic here.
- Third Wave (Only if needed) – If your overall test score is low and you need marks to clear the safe cutoff, only then take a very careful guess.
In Mains, the negative marking is heavier, so do not do blind guessing at all. If you have no clue about a question, just leave it.
5. Important Topics for 2026
Looking at the latest tricky exam trends, Dhruv shared some very important topics we must cover in deep detail –
- Art and Culture – Festivals and Dances (like the Goncha festival). SSC is asking very deep questions here, not just basic names.
- New Laws – Read about the new legal codes in India (BNS, BSA, etc.).
- Sports – Khelo India Games, Olympics, and sports terminology (words used in games like basketball).
- Geopolitics – BRICS summits, space missions, and India’s new agreements.
Final View of Dhruv
In the final days before the exam, do not start a brand new topic. Focus only on remembering hard data like dates, awards, and census numbers. Above all, Dhruv says that keeping a calm mind inside the exam hall is your biggest weapon.
My Personal Advice
Well, I also appeared in the SSC CGL 2025 Tier-1 Exam but I was not shortlisted for the mains. After that I analyzed the question paper of the SSC CGL and also SSC CHSL then I found important topics and I learned that topic. After CGL 2025 I appeared in the SSC CPO Tier 1 and also in the SSC Delhi Police Constable and HCM exam and I cleared both exam and scored good marks in the GK section. So, this is only happened because I followed the trends of the examiner. So, also focus on the trends of the questions do not blindly read or learn everything.
I found these tips incredibly helpful for my own CPO Mains and upcoming CGL preparation. I hope this summary helps you too. Let’s work hard, study smart, and crack SSC CGL 2026 together.
