Hello Everyone, My Name is Akshay Bhardwaj. As you all know, I recently cleared my SSC CPO Prelims and am currently grinding hard for the CPO Mains. But alongside that, my ultimate target is SSC CGL 2026.
During my study breaks, I often look for real stories of selected candidates to keep myself motivated. Recently, I watched a brilliant Josh Talks video featuring Mansi Rana, who cleared SSC CGL and secured the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in the Central Secretariat Service (CSS).
What inspired me the most was that she wasn’t a born topper. She faced the exact same struggles, family pressures, and failures that we face every day. I decided to write this article to share her amazing journey and her exact strategy so that all of us preparing for CGL 2026 can learn from it.

5 Rules To Crack SSC CGL 2026
1. You Do Not Need to Be a Topper
One of the biggest fears we have is thinking that only top university scholars clear SSC CGL. Mansi completely breaks this myth.
She was a very average student. She scored just 76% in her 10th board exams and 69.4% in her 12th boards. After college, while her friends were getting settled or joining family businesses, she was completely confused. She started preparing for banking exams (she even gave the IBPS PO and SBI Clerk Mains).
But when a huge number of SSC vacancies came out, she realized SSC jobs offered better profiles. She made the tough decision to switch from Banking to SSC. Her Math was strong from banking prep, but her GK was very weak. She knew she had to work double hard to fix it.
2. The Power of Extreme Sacrifice
Nowadays, over 30 to 40 lakh people fill out the SSC forms for just a few thousand seats. Mansi realized very early that if she wanted to be in that top 0.1%, she had to do things differently than the crowd.
Here is what she did to kill distractions –
- Zero Social Media – She completely deleted Instagram and WhatsApp.
- No Smartphone – She literally gave her mobile phone to her younger brother.
- Total Isolation – She only used a laptop, and that too strictly for watching study courses. She stopped talking to relatives and friends to avoid their negative questions.
Her routine was brutal. She used to study from 8 AM to 10 PM. She only took small breaks to eat or go for a quick walk to clear her mind.
3. Dealing with Failure and Financial Pressure
Even after all this hard work, Mansi failed her first attempt. She missed the cut off by just a few marks.
We all know that feeling. Your family starts questioning you, relatives start passing comments, and you feel like giving up. But Mansi shared a golden rule – “Motivation is temporary, but discipline is permanent.”
Instead of crying or wasting a month in depression, she analyzed her mistakes. To stop depending on her parents for money, she started giving tuitions to 9th and 10th-grade students in the afternoon. This was a very smart move because teaching them helped her revise her own basic math and trigonometry formulas!
4. The Ultimate Mock Test Strategy
If you are preparing for CGL 2026, you need to take Mock Tests seriously. Mansi explained a very practical way to analyze them.
Let’s say you attempt the Math section (25 questions) –
- If you only solved 20 questions – Look at the 5 you missed. Did you not know the concept? Write that concept down in a notebook and revise it immediately.
- Look at the 20 you solved – Did any question take too much time? If yes, find out if there is a short trick or a faster formula for it.
If you do this daily, your score will automatically jump from 15 correct answers to 20, and eventually to a full 25.
5. Why Choose ASO in CSS?
After clearing the exam, Mansi chose ASO in CSS over famous posts like Income Tax or GST Inspector. Her reasons make perfect sense, especially for girls or anyone wanting a peaceful life –
- Fixed Timing – It is a strict 9 to 5 job. After 5 PM, no one disturbs you.
- No Transfers – Your entire career will be spent in Delhi. You never have to worry about shifting cities every few years.
- Weekends Off – You get Saturday and Sunday completely free to spend time with your family or parents.
Final Advice
Mansi’s story taught me that passing SSC CGL is not about how smart you are; it is about how disciplined you are when things go wrong. Keep yourself away from your phone, analyze your mock tests deeply, and stay consistent even if you fail your first try.
Let’s keep working hard for our CPO Mains and upcoming CGL 2026. See you in the next blog.
